Break Away from Black and Embrace Color this Winter
Recently I have gotten into the routine of wearing layers of neutral colors, mostly greys and tans, so much so that I started to crave a bit of color. I got this Alice and Olivia Muriel striped oversized shawl during the Holidays and could not be a bigger fan! The colors are oh-so-vibrant and the fabric is as soft as can be. While I thought about pairing the shawl with a pair of jeans, I opted to style it with a midi length dress and accessories in a coordinating burgundy hue.
I found that my body-conscious midi dress pairs perfectly with the oversized shawl because of its clean lines. This particular dress features a plunging V-neck and thigh-high slit, baring a bit of skin helps to balance out the volume of the blanket-like shawl. Side note, I also find that the midi length tends to elongate my figure - anyone else feel this way?? I was actually a bit surprised when I realized how many coordinating accessories I had to match the dress and shawl. My Tommy Hilfiger burgundy suede slouch boot and Fendi burgundy leather Demi Jour Split shoulder bag keep the look feeling casual, yet effortlessly cool.
Midi dresses are a favorite of mine during the cooler months. I find them to be a great alternative to pants when I need to switch things up as they still keep me relatively warm. I have linked to more outfits featuring midi lengths. Or, if you too are craving a bit of color, I have linked to a few more posts that feature burgundy and red pieces.
