Today's look is all about re-inventing the black shift dress for spring by adding a collar. Recently I've been layering white collared shirts under almost everything. Mostly because I enjoy the added detail of a crisp collar and statement cuff. So you can imagine how excited I am about this simple shift dress featuring such elegant wrist details by Cynthia Steffe. The accordion pleats and sweet bows at the cuffs add a hint of femininity to this spring-inspired look. To further emphasize the white accents, I've opted to layer a sleeveless white collared blouse under the dress and my Vera Bradley quilted Emma mini crossbody handbag in white. The quilted-leather mini satchel can be carried as a handbag or a shoulder bag, however I more often than not opt for a crossbody because of the hands-free ease it lends. In totality, the black shift dress contrasts nicely with the white collar, which is complimented by the addition of the white handbag. This spring, the collar isn't reserved for work attire, instead collars are a decidedly preppy approach to both day and evening dressing. So whether you're wearing a black shift dress (like me) or maybe something in a bold color or print, I'd have to say that a crisp white collar is a chic way to switch-up your style.
