When I'm looking for something casual to throw on but still earn a little street-style credit, it's all about the striped shirt. This now style staple is something everyone should have in their wardrobe. When wearing mine, I think of it as a neutral. That means I have free-range when mixing and matching this piece. As a result, I can opt for preppy or Parisian chic, depending on my mood.

Today I'm leaning closer to the Parisian chic off-duty end of the spectrum. I've styled up my style staple with leather pants rather than denim for added edge and a Forever 21 duster jacket with sharp tailoring and striking length for an undeniable sartorial appeal. Keeping my top and pants relatively form-fitting maximizes the jackets sleek, chic lines. I've finished off the whole look with my new Valentino Noir Rockstud Leather Slingback and Céline sunnies for serious style points. Although I said this look had an off duty appeal, I am definitely on-duty today as I need to pick up some last minute things before my flight to New York for fashion week. I'm on a mission for a new hat!

If you don't already own your own striped shirt, my current striped shirt of choice is Billabong's Rebel Gypsy pullover top - I live in it. It's made from cotton fabric that’s been treated to a burnout wash. Its shrunken fit says lived-in and well-loved, with a playful vibe that pairs with everything in my closet. The shirt is ready for anything day or night, concrete to coast. Today I'm wandering the concrete but anticipate I'll be wandering far and wide in this shirt for years to come.

Here are some more looks featuring stripes, Rag & Bone top here and Vince top here.
